Travel Experts Say These Flight Hacks Will Help You Save In 2023
While you may have already made your travel plans for the holiday season, the end of the year is also the perfect time to get started on that travel bucket list for the next year. The trick is to figure out how to best schedule your flights and when to buy your plane tickets.
Booking way ahead of time can often help you save some money on your flights, but not always. Travel experts from Expedia shared six flight hacks with Elite Daily to help you score cheaper airfare in 2023:
- Book flights on Sundays: Tuesday used to be the “cheapest” day, but Sunday will be the prime day to purchase cheaper tickets in 2023.
- Know the sweet spot to book an international flight. You can save around 10-percent if you book it six months in advance.
- Know the sweet spot to book a domestic flight: This is one of those time when you don’t ant to book too early. Domestic airfare tends to rise about three to six months before the flight. Instead, book it about a month in advance of the day you want to leave.
- Schedule your departure for Wednesdays. Leaving on a Sunday or Monday will cost you 15-percent more on average. People don’t tend to leave on Wednesdays, so it’s cheaper. I can confirm this because I recently flew from Charlotte to Detroit on a Wednesday.
- Avoid flight delays and cancellations. Try to fly out as early in the day as possible as evening flights are 50-percent more likely to get cancelled. Also, traveling off-season can help.
- Set up price alerts. Airline websites and travel sites allow you to set up price alerts to let you know when prices are at its lowest.
