Science: We Found The Ultimate Hangover Cure!
For many fine people, the holidays brings about a change in habits. Namely, they hit the booze a bit harder than at other times of the year. Between the parties and the general stress of the season, who among us can honestly say we haven’t welcomed at least the idea of a cocktail or seven.
This has already begun, by the way. On Halloween, I saw a particularly festive father escorting his kids around the neighborhood. While his little ones were trick-or-treating, dad was taking nips from a flask. It’s going to be a long holiday season for that guy.
With the increased imbibing, holiday hangovers are inevitable. Luckily, science has taken a break from solving climate change just long enough to uncover the ideal hangover cure. According to LADbible, a team led by Dr Shraddha Srinivasan at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, India found that a specific combination of food and drink gives you a better chance of getting over your hangover more quickly.
It’s pretty simple, actually. Dr. Srinivasan’s study recommends a blended beverage made with coconut water, sweet lime, and pear. That should be accompanied by a small meal of cheese, tomatoes, and cucumber. So much for my greasy burger and Mountain Dew remedy. What you want are vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and just a little protein. It’s worth a shot.
Oh, and one more thing. Skip the coffee. Apparently, research shows that the big cup of joe many of us reach for when we’re feeling green on New Year’s Day is one of the worst things for a hangover. You can read more about that HERE.
