North Carolina Shelter Puppy Finally Finds Forever Home Following 14 Failed Adoptions
I’ve never heard of anything like this happening. A puppy in North Carolina was returned to a shelter 14 times after failed adoptions before finally has a forever home. I can understand something like that happening once or twice with a pet. Maybe even three times. But 14!?!
According to Fox News, a “sweet and clumsy” 63-pound mixed breed puppy named Ronald arrived at the SPCA of Wake County in December and went home with multiple families. Unfortunately, each of them decided Ronald’s “big puppy energy” wasn’t the right fit for them and brought him back to the shelter in Raleigh. Ronald was dubbed “unlucky” after the disappointing experiences.
Ronald’s luck changed when the SPCA shared his history in a Facebook post that went viral. It was shared approximately 70,000 times and the shelter received over 800 responses from people who wanted to give Ronald a home and break his unlucky streak. Kiersten Davis, a nurse from Raeford, was one of those who saw the post and wanted to adopt Ronald. At first, she was put on a wait list, but when his adoption fell through, Kiersten drove the 90 miles up to Raleigh to get her dog.
The big puppy is now adjusting to life at his new home with Kiersten, her husband, their two young sons, and their three-year-old Australian Shepherd, Billie. “I was not intimidated at all by the energetic puppy behavior,” Davis says. “I live with two boys, ages seven and four, so I am used to the chaos and crazy.” They’re all one big happy family now and Ronald’s luck has changed for the better.
