UK Man Convicted For ‘Eggs-travagant Theft’
We’re all well aware of the spike in poultry egg prices here in U.S. over the past few months. It got so bad that some people attempted to illegally smuggle cheaper eggs into the country from Mexico. However, a different type of egg has inspired a bit of criminal activity in the UK.
CNN reports that a man in England apparently couldn’t live without his Cadbury Creme Eggs. Police in West Mercia, about 130 miles northwest of London, say 32-year-old Joby Pool stole nearly 200,000 of the creme-filled chocolate treats. Is he trying to put the Easter Bunny out of business?
The police discovered the theft last Saturday. They say Pool used a stolen truck with false plates to steal a trailer loaded with about $48,000 worth of Cadbury Creme Eggs and other chocolate goodies. Pool pleaded guilty and could be looking at two years in prison when he’s sentenced in March. No word on if the Easter Bunny plans to press additional charges.
