Judy Blume is definitely having a moment. Not that she hasn’t before, but there is a lot of renewed interest in the beloved and controversial author of such childhood classics as Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Blubber, Deenie, and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.
We previously reported that the movie adaptation of Blume’s iconic 1970 coming-of-age novel, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, is coming to theaters at the end of April. It was filmed here in the Charlotte area in 2021. You can read more about that and see the trailer here.
Now, Amazon Prime Video is sharing the trailer for the upcoming documentary, Judy Blume Forever. The film takes a look back at the 85-year-old Blume’s life, career, and lasting legacy. According to AV Club, famous fans of the trailblazing author, including Molly Ringwald, Samantha Bee, and Lena Dunham, were interviewed about the influence of Judy Blume’s work on their lives when they were growing up.
The documentary also features present-day kids who still find meaning, inspiration, and courage in Blume’s books, proving that her stories are just as relevant as ever. Judy Blume Forever will stream on Amazon Prime Video beginning April 21st.
