Free Beer: Bud Light Is Practically Giving Itself Away This 4th Of July
If you’re in charge of bringing the drinks to the Fourth of July party, here’s a money-saving tip for you: Bud Light is giving away free beer. Well, more or less.
After the marketing partnership with transgender celebrity Dylan Mulvaney caused such a kerfuffle with customers, Bud Light had to find a new way of getting sales back up. What better to do it than by slashing prices to the tune of a $15 rebate? That’s exactly what Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch is doing.
According to Newsweek, you must purchase a 15-pack of Bud Light, Budweiser, Budweiser Select, or Budweiser Select 55. You’ll then get a $15 rebate in the form of a prepaid digital card. Your brew is free if a 15-pack in your area costs less than $15. The rebate is good for purchases made between June 15 and July 8. See complete rules on Bud Light’s website.
Meanwhile, Bud Light is getting backlash from LGBTQ organizations and beer drinkers for folding under pressure from those who were opposed to the Mulvaney campaign. The conservative boycott led to Modelo Especial overtaking Bud Light as America’s top-selling brand. What’s a beer to do?
USA Today reports that Bud Light is trying to beef up its image with the more traditional crowd by partnering with NFL stars such as Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Dak Prescott. Furthermore, country music performers Tyler Braden and Seaforth are headlining something called the Bud Light Backyard Tour this summer.
The brand has also rolled out a new commercial for the summer of 2023. It’s called “Easy to Summer” and features Chic’s 1979 disco hit “Good Times.” Free beer? Football players? Country singers? Fun commercials? Will all of this be enough to appease everyone and make Bud Light #1 again? Only time will tell.
