South Carolina Husband And Wife Travel To Win ‘Best Beard’ Competitions
There’s a couple from South Carolina that bonds over beards, and they’re winning competitions all over the country. Now, I’ll admit that I first thought Natali Johnson’s beard was real, but as wonderful as it is, she didn’t grow it. However, that hasn’t stopped her and her husband Aaron from winning lots of beard competitions.
According to Metro, the couple travels the world competing in facial hair contest. Between them, they’ve been in over 170 competitions. The couple says they have a blast and that it’s a good way for them to bond. It’s an interesting hobby the two have now turned into their careers. The couple met in 2001 and were neighbors for years before the started dating. After only dating for a few weeks, the couple married in 2008.
Natali competes in the ‘realistic freestyle’ contests. She creates wild, large beards from scratch using an array of items. She’s made beards out of bacon and cutlery, which she then attaches to her face. I gotta say her creations are a trip! I love how she accessorizes too! She’ll wear a costume and a hat or bow that compliments her beard style. Very festive! Usually, Natali brings home the bigger trophy for her beards.
Aaron just recently placed second in the Goatee category of the 2023 world championships in Germany on June 11. He began his beard growing after watching a TV show called ‘Whisker Wars.’ His beard is now 27 inches long, and taking care of it takes lots of time.
The couple travels the world full-time, competing in competitions all over. The entrance fee for all the contests is for charity, so in addition to having fun, they’re helping. They say the beard community is accepting of them and that they love meeting new people and traveling.

The couple usually travel the world together, both competing in bearding contests and while you would typically expect Aaron to be more adept at wining the first prize it’s actually his wife who is taking the gold pic.twitter.com/7uQkOKkqUk
