Sonic Drive-In Is Sending Teachers Back To School With Free Food
Sonic Drive-In wants to make sure educators will be starting the new school year with smiles on their faces. According to People, the Oklahoma City-based fast food chain is treating teachers to free food and drinks for an entire week, beginning Monday, August 21st. One of Sonic’s famous cherry limeades can always get me smiling!
From August 21st through the 25th, educators can score free food and drinks by signing up for Sonic Drive-In’s Teacher’s Circle on its app. Once they do, they’ll be sent rewards each day. Teachers just have to make another purchase through the app to get these freebies:
- Monday, 8/21 – A free large drink or slush
- Tuesday, 8/22 – A free breakfast entrée
- Wednesday, 8/23 – A free small cold brew
- Thursday, 8/24 – A free medium tots or fries
- Friday, 8/25 – A free cheeseburger
The back-to-school offer is open to faculty and staff members at K-12 schools or degree-granting universities. Kim Lewis, the Vice President of Brand Experience for Sonic Drive-In, says it’s their way to give a token of appreciation to teachers. You can find a Sonic Drive-In location here.
Did you know that Sonic Drive-In was founded in the 1950s by a former milkman named Troy N. Smith, Sr.? The business began as a walk-up root beer stand called the Top Hat. When Smith and his partner, Charles Woodrow Pappe, found out that the Top Hat name was already trademarked, they changed their brand to Sonic. But they kept the root beer.
