You Can See A Movie For Under $4 On National Cinema Day
Going to the movies for under $4? Don’t worry, you didn’t wake up in the past. However, in celebration of National Cinema Day this Sunday, you can get a movie ticket for what we were paying in the 1980s. And let’s face it, there’s no better way to see a movie than on a big screen.
According to Variety, August 27th is the second annual National Cinema Day. More than 3,000 movie theaters across the U.S. are expected to take part in the one-day event. All showtimes of all movies throughout the day are expected to cost less than $4 at the participating theaters. That includes 3D and IMAX releases.
Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of the National Association of Theatre Owners, says, “National Cinema Day is a celebration of movie fandom and of the uniting role that movie theaters play in our communities.” Last year’s inaugural event was the highest-attended day at movie theaters in 2022.
If you don’t already have plans for this Sunday, you may want to consider heading to the movies. Barbie and Oppenheimer are still in theaters. There are some new releases coming this weekend, too, including the biopic Golda, as well as the sports dramas Gran Turismo and The Hill. The original Jurassic Park from 1993 is also coming back to the big screen for its 30th anniversary.
