Crayola Crayons Now Wants to Be Your Favorite Florist And I’m In
When you hear the name ‘Crayola’, you think crayons. The company has been making brightly colored crayons since 1903. The names and shades have increased over the years, but the company IS synonymous with crayons! Now the famous crayon company is getting into selling flowers.
According to Yahoo Finance, the company announced Tuesday that it will now be selling flowers online. They’ve partnered with Mrs. Bloom’s, an importer and distributor of fresh-cut flowers — daisies, mums, hydrangeas and many different colors of roses — to jointly develop the online flower shop. You can buy boxes and bouquets of brightly beautiful flowers. Prices range from $49 to $150. The flowers go from farms directly to you.
My favorite part of this new venture is that 10-50% of sales will go towards the participating charity of the customer’s choice! You’ll be able to get yourself, a friend, or a loved one gorgeous, colorful flowers and be able to help your community. Although I haven’t seen the list of charities, I’m sure it will be growing the longer the new venture is around. In addition, nonprofit organizations can use the floral storefront as part of their own fundraising campaigns.
For-profit entities, such as local small businesses, can also create fundraising campaigns through a Crayola Flowers storefront to benefit community efforts such as soup kitchens and disaster relief. All campaigns will be vetted and checked out. This includes evidence of campaign need, proof of nonprofit status or proper identification of for-profit entities and administrators.
What Was Your Favorite Crayola Crayon Color?
One of the things that was big time when I was a kid in the 1970’s was having the big 64-Crayola crayon box. There were so many colors to choose from when coloring! It was like you won the lottery when you were little! The built in sharpener was awesome too! I was a huge fan of fan of ‘Turquoise Blue’ and ‘Magenta’. It’s been a long time since I had a box of Crayola crayons, so I’m sure there are colors I’m unaware of.
In addition to the website, Crayola Flowers will have an on-the-road component with a mobile flower truck or traveling storefront to set up at various events to support local and national nonprofits. I love that the company is giving back! They’re making kids happy with their huge array of art/coloring products and grown-ups happy with their flowers. While the company will make profits, they’re making sure they’re giving back to local communities. A win-win!
You can do some flower shopping on their new site here. I am a huge flower fan, and often buy them for myself at local farmer’s markets or at the grocery store. I’ll be making a purchase for myself so I can check out the colorful flowers for myself. Looking at the site, I can already tell you I’m loving it! The boxes the flowers come in are too cute!
