Burger King just announced a new meal deal, and I'm feeling very nostalgic. It's homecoming season so they decided to offer an inexpensive meal to celebrate. According to The Fast Food Post, the new deal is starting tomorrow, September 21.

The BK Homecoming Meal for two is offering two Whopper Jr. sandwiches, two milkshakes, one small order of onion rings, and one small order of French fries for only $10. Not a bad deal, especially if you're in high school. In addition to the food, you'll get two BK crowns that are bejeweled and have a homecoming logo on them. Cute!

This will probably be a bit shocking to you, but I was homecoming queen of my high school my senior year. LOL! My high school boyfriend was captain of the football team, so he was the one who was sponsoring me. A buddy of mine was my escort. My parents weren't going to let me go to the game because it was happening on a Friday night during Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. I talked them into letting me go, but my escort and I had to have Shabbat dinner at my house before the game.

The Thursday night before homecoming, my boyfriend, me, and some other friends in the running for homecoming queen and their dates all piled in cars and went to Charlotte to have dinner. We felt so grown up! The year was 1988, and we went to TGI Fridays on Independence Blvd. Before hitting the restaurant for dinner, we went to Infinity's End, which used to be on Independence Blvd.

We all felt like we were doing something wrong shopping in the store since we were in high school. Of course, I was rebellious, so I was in for it. I remember buying the coolest purple tie-dye Jimi Hendrix tee shirt. I wore that thing til it had holes in it! It was so soft and comfy, and I was (and am) a huge Hendrix fan. Now, as an adult, I have a Hendrix song lyric tattooed on my right forearm.

Everyone Was Shocked I Won, Including Me

Once we went to homecoming, and I was announced as the winner, everyone was shocked, including me! I was popular in high school and was friends with all types of people. I've always been one of those folks that likes a person for who they are, even if they weren't in my specific 'group' in high school. Still, I expected someone who was more of a 'good girl' to win homecoming. Although I wasn't a 'bad girl', I was a bit rebellious. LOL!

Reading about the BK Homecoming Meal deal took me back to 1988 for a quick minute and made me nostalgic. High school was a fun time for me and I miss the 80's! I may have to snag one of these meals just to relive my 80's days. Oh how I wish I was still the same size as I was back then! Remember the days of being able to eat whatever you wanted? Good times!

America’s Top 6 Fast Food French Fries

Times may change. Diets may change. However, one thing remains the same. People love French fries, even if they were invented in Belgium. I don't know a single person who can resist popping at least one French fry into their mouth. Carnivores, omnivores, pescetarians, flexitarians, vegetarians, vegans...fries work for everyone. And if you get them from a fast food joint, they don't cost much! French fries truly are the food of the people.

Most people have opinions about which fast food chain serves the best fries. TastingTable has ranked 25 of them from worst to best. Personally, I feel that local favorite Bojangles was disrespected. Their perfectly-seasoned fries are much better than 18th in the nation. You can see the entire list HERE. Check out the top six choices that are available in the Charlotte area below.
