UK Man Fills His Tiny Car’s Gas Tank For Less Than $10
Gas prices are high everywhere. Even if you drive a small car, it’s costing more than $40 to fill your tank. But what if your car were even smaller?
Alex Orchin, 31, turns heads in his hometown of Wivelsfield, England every time he runs errands in the world’s smallest car. His three-wheeled Peel P50 is just 134cm long, 98cm wide, and 100cm high. At 5′ 11”, Alex has to fold himself into the tiny transport. His knees actually straddle the steering wheel. Somehow, Orchin managed to drive the elfin automobile 1,488 miles, the length of the UK, to raise money for a children’s charity in 2021.
According to The Sun, the British-made Peel P50 debuted in the 1960s. It was named the smallest production car ever built by Guinness World Records in 2010. Alex Orchin became enamored with the P50 after seeing Jeremy Clarkson drive one on Top Gear.
So how does the Peel P50 do at the pump? The gas tank holds only 5 liters, or slightly over 1.3 gallons, which means it costs Orchin about $9 to fill up. Like I said, gas prices are high everywhere, but at least Alex isn’t getting the same sticker shock as the rest of us. Here’s a look at his top-to-bottom trek:
