Dine Like A Crawley With The ‘Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook’
Fans of the Downton Abbey television series and film should have no trouble coming up with a menu for their holiday meals this year. You’ll be able to dine like a Crawley this Christmas with a new companion cookbook.
The Official Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook is described as “a collection of traditional British holiday recipes, from appetizers to desserts, that were popular during the Edwardian period.” In addition to learning how to make the elaborate meals seen on the show, you’ll get stories and photos from the series as well as information about the traditions of that time.
Other TV and movie tie-in cookbooks coming this fall include Friends: The Official Cookbook and The Official Hill Valley Cookbook (Back to the Future). One of my favorite go-to cookbooks is The Sopranos Family Cookbook from 2002. My wife and I made it a weekly thing to cook something from that book before we sat down to watch an episode.
Popsugar has a preview of The Official Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook, including some of the recipes. The book hits stores on October 27th, giving you plenty of time to whip up a Dowager-approved meal for the holidays. Of course, if you wanted to make it a truly authentic experience, you would just have your servants do the cooking.
