Troy Aikman Brewing “Ultra-Healthy” Beer
Many times during his college and pro football career, Troy Aikman has been a game changer. Can he do it again in the brewing business? That’s what the athlete-turned-broadcaster is counting on with his new “ultra-healthy” beer.
According to TMZ, the 55-year-old former quarterback has launched an Austin, Texas-based beer brand called Eight. That was Troy Aikman’s jersey number with the Dallas Cowboys. What makes Eight “ultra-healthy?” Aikman says it’s the only lifestyle beer that he knows of that doesn’t use any “corn, rice, syrups, or extra sugars,” and is made with only “100% organic grains.”
Troy is optimistic that Eight will become the go-to beer for “health nuts looking to enjoy the occasional glass or two.” It tips the scales at 90-calories, a little over two-grams of carbs, and 4% ABV. Eight will hit store shelves across Texas in April. A few bars and restaurants are already serving it. If it does well in Texas, a nationwide launch could follow.
