Michelin-Starred Chef Says McDonald’s Is One Of The Best Restaurants In His Country
McDonald’s may have been born in the U.S.A., but a Michelin-starred chef says the fast food empire’s best location is on the other side of the Atlantic. What!?! Blasphemy! But wait, aren’t all McDonald’s restaurants basically the same? Not even close. According to the New York Post, the U.K. is home to one vastly superior McDonald’s.
Gareth Ward, who runs the two-Michelin-star restaurant Ynyshir Restaurant & Rooms, is a big fan of the McDonald’s in Welshpool, Wales. The renowned chef is not only calling it the “best in the world,” but one of the top three restaurants in the country as well. Seriously.
“It’s just absolutely smashing it,” Ward says of the Welshpool McDonald’s. “Everybody I speak to says this is, by far, the best McDonald’s in the world.”
What makes this particular Mickey D’s so good? Part of what sets it apart is its menu. You can get a Big Mac anywhere, but at this location you can also reportedly get chicken sandwiches with truffle mayo and McFlurries made with Cadbury chocolate. Ooh, la, la.
Other unique menu items served under the Welshpool golden arches include the McPlant, a plant-based burger made with Beyond Meat, and Nacho Cheese Wedges filled with spicy jalapeno slices. This restaurant is less than two years old and Google reviews also praise it for the quick service and friendly staff.
I bet their ice cream machine never breaks down either.
