New Orleans Man Fights Off Carjacker With Gumbo
Vehicle thefts rose by over 35% last year in New Orleans, and at least one man decided he wasn’t going to be a victim. Not only did he fend off an attempted carjacking on Christmas Day, but he did it in the most New Orleans way ever. He sacrificed his gumbo.
According to the Daily Mail, a man was dropping off a pot of gumbo for a neighbor when someone jumped into his SUV and tried to take off. That’s when the gumbo became a weapon. The man threw the pot at the car, then climbed onto the hood and grabbed the carjacker through the open sunroof. After a scuffle, the carjacker got out of the SUV, jumped into a getaway vehicle, and fled the scene. You can see video of the incident HERE.
This got me thinking about iconic foods from other places that could potentially be used for self-defense. Here’s what I came up with:
- Chicago Deep Dish Pizza: It’s so dense and heavy you could definitely do some damage with one of these.
- New England Clam Chowder: So thick you could blind someone with it.
- Philly Cheesesteak: Order a large one and swing it like a baseball bat.
- Idaho Potato: When they’re raw those things are like rocks. After they’re baked…hotter than lava!
- Maryland Crab: Very pinchy.
- Hawaiian Pineapple: They’re like large spiky grenades.
- Carolina Reaper Pepper: Right in the eyes!
Can you think of any others?
