What Are The Favorite Junk Foods In North Carolina And South Carolina?
It only happens once a year, July 21st, and it’s a day worth celebrating for sure. I’m talking about National Junk Food Day! I know, we’re all supposed to be eating healthier, but it’s okay to give in to a few guilty pleasures every now and then. If there’s a day to leave the salad in the fridge and treat yourself to irresponsible amounts of fat, sugar, salt, carbs, and unnecessary calories, this is it.
In honor of this gluttonous food holiday, a new report reveals Americans’ favorite junk foods. Casinos.com analyzed Google Trends and search data for the last year to determine what the most popular junk foods are in each state. They purposely left out fast food restaurants, since they get their own holiday, National Fast Food Day on November 16th. They also didn’t include drinks, sodas, or anything you would consider to be too healthy. So that pretty much leaves candy, cookies, chips, and other salty snacks.
According to the data, Sour Patch Kids are the overall favorite junk food in the U.S., topping the list in seven states, including North Carolina. Kit Kat is America’s top chocolate bar, followed by Butterfinger. Pringles and good old fashioned Animal Crackers are also favorite junk foods in multiple states. Nerds are the favorite in three states, including South Carolina.
