The 10 Most Unusual Items Left Behind In Hotel Rooms
My wife, Sara, and I just got back from our unforgettable trip to Sandals Dunn’s River resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Remarkably, we didn’t leave anything behind except for the tears we shed when we boarded our bus to the airport. But travelers are always forgetting things in hotel rooms all over the world…and sometimes it can get pretty weird.
Nine times out of ten, hotel guests only leave behind things like toothbrushes or phone chargers. Common items like that often get overlooked when we’re packing to check out. I’ve always wondered what the housekeeping staff does with that stuff once they find it. Do they turn it in at the front desk in case someone calls to get it back? Are they allowed keep some of it for themselves? Or does it all get tossed in the trash?
Fortunately, someone has been keeping track of the truly unusual items that get left behind in hotel rooms. The UK-based travel company easyJet Holidays surveyed 100 hotels in their network of European destinations to uncover the strangest things forgotten by guests in the last year. Check out the top ten below!
Most Unusual Items Left Behind In Hotel Rooms (easyJet Holidays)
- Dentures
- Witchcraft paraphernalia
- Prosthetic limbs
- Glass eye
- Grandma’s ‘lucky’ tea cup
- Thousands of German Marks
- Clown costume
- Inflatable boat
- Caviar
- Rosary beads
Numbers 1, 3, and 4 seem pretty important. How did the owners of those dentures, prosthetic limbs, and the glass eye forget about them as they were leaving their hotels? Don’t they need those? How drunk were they!?!
I’m just hoping that all of the items on the list were found in different hotel rooms and on separate days. If they were all collected in the same room on the same day, someone definitely should have called the police.
