‘The Rock’ Surprises Selfless MMA Fighter With New Home And Reason To Dream
For all the crappy behavior we hear about coming out of Hollywood, you have to appreciate the truly good people. I’m not saying they’re necessarily perfect, but at least some celebrities really try to give back, help others, and be shining examples of positivity. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is definitely one of those people. According to ESPN, Johnson recently gave an aspiring mixed martial arts fighter from Zimbabwe a better chance to succeed.
Themba Gorimbo has a dream of becoming a UFC fighter. With no money, he left Zimbabwe to train in Miami. After he won his second fight, he sold his fight kit, took all the money, and sent it to his village so they could buy a water well and have clean water. Impressive, right? Especially since Gorimbo had seven dollars to his name outside of that – and was sleeping on a sofa at the gym where he trained.
Gorimbo’s story eventually got to Dwayne Johnson, who was so moved by Gorimbo’s selflessness that he flew to Miami to meet the young MMA fighter. “The Rock” also had a big surprise for him. Gorimbo was already excited to meet his WWE idol. Then Johnson drove Gorimbo across town to “meet a friend” at his beautiful home. There was a house, but there was no friend. It was all a set up to show Gorimbo his new home. The way that Gorimbo noticed something was up is priceless: carefully placed family photos.
Johnson posted a message of encouragement to Gorimbo on social media that includes the words, “You and your family enjoy your new house brother. Lights are on. Bills are paid. Got your back brother. Let’s get to work on that dream of becoming champion one day.” God bless “The Rock.” You can see the emotional meeting below:
