New Clothing Collection Stained With Ketchup
This may be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen. Admittedly, I’m not into fashion, but this is a bit much. Heinz and threadUp have collaborated on a new clothing collection called ‘Vintage Drip’. The line includes items from numerous labels, all stained with ketchup. Every piece has a noticeable ketchup stain.
According to Delish, the Vintage Drip line looks to take the stigma out of stains and also highlight sustainability through secondhand purchases. I’m sorry but did I miss messy folks being very upset about stains on their clothes? Almost daily, I spill something on my shirt. Phil can back me up on this! I’m always making a mess! Who knew my stained clothes could be worth a lot of money.
Alyssa Cicero, Brand Manager, Brand Communications at Heinz, says that the line is looking to “change the narrative from a stain to a statement. This collection is about sustainably celebrating the character HEINZ ketchup stains add to apparel, inviting our fans to embrace a new iconic symbol.” Huh?!
The only reason this clothing line is worthy of chatting about is that 100% of the proceeds go to Rise Against Hunger, whose goal is to “end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies.” Now I’m all about the cause but I’d rather donate money that spend a lot of money on a ketchup-stained piece of clothing. Maybe I should start selling my stained clothes to raise money for the cause. I can promise you it’d go for a lot less than these pieces!
Oddly enough, items are already beginning to sell out. There will be a second round of stained clothes for sale starting September 13 if you’re interested. You can check out the entire selection of the ‘Vintage Drip’ pieces here.
