Clever 4-Foot Lizard That ‘Runs Like A T-Rex’ Escapes From Pet Store
A 4-foot Tegu lizard is on the loose in the northwest part of England. What is a Tegu lizard? According to the BBC, Tegu lizards are native to Central and South America. Tegus are popular pets due to their intelligence, but that intelligence could make it hard to find one that has escaped.
The owner of Pet Encounter Cumbria, Siobhan Harkness, says that the Tegu lizard named Echo escaped after digging through her cage when Harkness left her alone for 20 minutes. She warns that Echo can “run like a T-Rex” and may whip strangers with her tail if she gets scared. So there’s a child-sized Godzilla roaming the streets of Cumbria. Good luck with that.
Harkness’ biggest fear right now is, “I just don’t want anyone having a heart attack if she’s in their garden sunbathing and they think it’s a crocodile.” Harkness urges anyone who comes across Echo in the Cumbria area to contact her Pet Encounter business immediately.
I wouldn’t think that it would too hard to spot a 4-foot lizard, especially in England. A gargantuan reptile would tend to stand out there. However, Siobhan Harkness says Echo is “likely hiding in plain sight.” She’s a clever one. The search continues…
