South Carolina Woman Removes Halloween Decorations In A Amazing Display Of Kindness
Not everyone is a fan of Halloween. Many folks don’t like if for personal or religious reasons, which is totally fine. I am not one of those people. I love Halloween and I love seeing the creative decorations folks come up with for their yard. One woman in South Carolina went all out for Halloween this year, filling her yard with numerous scary props. But she’s recently moved them to her back yard, and the reason is so sweet.
According to Your Tango, Salena Webb is a big Halloween fan and she began decorating for the holiday in September. Recently, a neighbor asked her to reconsider some of the decorations in her yard, and the reason is sad. The son of her elderly neighbor came by and asked if she could remove some of her décor because his dad was just diagnosed with cancer. Webb has security camera footage of the interaction. The unnamed man, whose face is blurry, mentions all the decorations Webb has.
Then he says the makeshift graveyard with cardboard tombstones and two human-sized skeletons carrying a tiny casket is freaking his dad out a bit. Since the man was just diagnosed with cancer, seeing that type of scene is reminding him of death daily. Cancer is scary enough without seeing all that. The elderly man is living right across the street and seeing the death scene isn’t helping his mental state.
Webb Is A Great Neighbor
After speaking with her neighbor’s son, Webb did the right thing. While many people would make a big fuss or would refuse to do it, she didn’t think twice about removing the death scene. Removing all her decor will help out the man’s mental state. Putting them in her backyard allows her to still enjoy Halloween. She says, ‘We took it down because kindness is free’.
In today’s society, many people would have refused or argued with the man. I love that Webb is not one of those people. Every day we read about horrible events in the news. It’s so nice to read about someone doing a good thing for someone else! In addition, Webb realized that the older man was dealing with mortality and seeing Halloween decorations was most likely not helping him cope with the news of such a serious diagnosis like lung cancer. She also shared that her neighbor frequently hangs out in his garage and has a perfect view of Webb’s front yard, so for her, it was a “no-brainer” to remove them.
Most folks online are praising Webb for her selfless decision. Others are saying the son’s request was stupid, and they wouldn’t have taken the decorations down. Of course, when you’re in that situation and you’re seeing how upset someone is, your heart strings are pulled. Hearing you have cancer is scary enough without seeing skeletons and caskets daily. She did something so nice! We need more folks like her in this world!
