A Wanted Charlotte Area Bank Robber Using A Kid’s Lunchbox In Crimes
Never would I encourage any type of crime, but if you’re going to do something stupid, at least be smart about it! A wanted bank robber linked to multiple robberies in the Charlotte area and in Western North Carolina is using a kid’s lunchbox to commit his crimes.
According to WCNC, Henderson police say that 46-year-old Kelvin Wayne Simmons allegedly held up the First Citizens Bank on Wednesday. Simmons is also linked to recent bank robberies in Belmont, Mooresville, Salisbury and Statesville. Apparently, the man hands tellers a note demanding money, saying he has a gun. Once he receives the money, he puts it into a ‘Despicable Me’ lunchbox featuring the Minions characters.
Looking at the pictures from the bank’s security tapes, it doesn’t look like Simmons is hiding his identity. Since he has a record, not real smart. Simmons is from Concord and was convicted in 2022 of robbing a bank. Not real sure why he’s out of jail already since the crime is a federal one and was committed last year.
Again, not encouraging any type of crime, especially a federal one, but dude! Don’t be a dumbass! That said, despite his appearance and identifying lunchbox, police have yet to catch him. After his latest robbery, police say he fled the scene in a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe with N.C. license plate TMR-8978.
A man convicted of robbing a bank in Stanly County has been connected to at least four recent bank robberies in the Charlotte area. https://t.co/Y9xcCLTe9E
