Some of These Retailers Plan to Stay Closed on Thanksgiving
This will affect a lot of shopping plans for a ton of people.
Continuing a growing trend that began in the wake of pre-Black Friday violence, a number of major retailers have announced plans to close for Thanksgiving.
Among the stores that won’t be open for business this year are Ace Hardware, BJ’s, Costco, Guitar Center, Hobby Lobby, Lowe’s, Marshalls, Petco, Sam’s Club, T.J. Maxx, and True Value, according to BestBlackFriday.com. While the website notes several major chains — including Target, Walmart, Macy’s, Sears and JCPenney — have not yet revealed their planned holiday hours, Best Buy, CVS and Walgreens have announced they will be open to Thanksgiving shoppers.
But honestly, the holiday is for spending time with family and giving thanks don’t you think? Not shopping. Do you support these retailers’ decisions to close on Thanksgiving, or is that the only time you get to do some serious shopping?
