“GOLIATH” Season 2 on Prime. Binge Heaven
Season 2 of “Goliath” takes you down the rabbit hole and you can’t stop watching.
When I saw Season 1 of “Goliath” in 2016 I was sad when it ended because it seemed impossible to me at that point that there could ever be a Season 2. It was more like a feature length movie that had reached it’s natural conclusion. I did not expect a Season 2, so when Amazon Prime started teasing it, I was overjoyed. It seem there was a way to continue fighting any “Goliath” that behaved as if they were above the law.
Billy Bob Thornton is so good in this role because it’s pretty much how his life really is, disheveled, broken, vulnerable, amidst life’s bullies. His character, Billy McBride is lured back into practicing law when his friend and favorite bar owner played by Lou Diamond Phillips, loses two of his sons in a gang related shooting. His youngest son, a budding musician, who plays a mean cello, is accused of retaliation against his brother’s killers.
Add to this starting plot, a wealthy real estate tycoon who’s crooked (not a spoiler) and a up and coming Latino candidate for Mayor who is tied romantically to Billy McBride, a cartel drug lord, some bad cops and you can see the makings of a great Season 2, 8 episodes that I easily crushed in one weekend. Also, his associates from Season 1 return and a great performance by Paul Williams as a former colleague, who although no longer a practicing attorney, is “connected” and is Billy’s mole into the L.A. legal system. Watch Season 1 if you haven’t, but except for developing the character’s, Season 2 is not a continuation of Season 1 other than the theme, David takes on “Goliath”. Enjoy.
