‘Elvis’ Movie Impact On Music Charts After 3 Weeks
When the Elvis movie opened a few weeks ago, I did a feature on the impact of Elvis Presley on my youth. I still haven’t see the film but it’s on my to do list. Just like Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 4 resurrected the 1985 Kate Bush song “Running Up That Hill” just by using it in the series, Elvis the film has re-kindled the love story the world had with the life and music of Elvis Presley.
To that end, Elvis Presley is back on the Billboard charts. The soundtrack to the movie Elvis is at the top of the Billboard charts. Also gaining momentum is his music catalog. Elvis’ 2002 compilation, Elvis: 30 #1 Hits, is back in the top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in 19 years. Elvis’ streams are up 67% since the film hit theaters. His most streamed song of the week is “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.
What is your favorite Elvis song or album? Has the movie made you go back and listen to his catalog?
A movie about an icon like Elvis will of course create controversy. Below is what some are saying about the story that was told.
